P-502 Lending of Fire Department Equipment small appliances and Tools

PURPOSE:

To provide a policy for the lending of fire department equipment, small appliances and tools.

OBJECTIVE:

To ensure that small appliances, equipment and tools of the Fire Department are available and are in operable condition at all times.

SCOPE:

This policy applies to career and volunteer firefighters of Halifax Fire & Emergency.

POLICY:

No Fire Department equipment, small appliances or tools may be loaned to any individual for his/her personal use. This includes members of the Fire Department and the general public.

NOTE:

The only exception would be with the express consent of the Manager of Logistics If this consent is given, then a request form should be completed and a copy left with the Station Officer and a copy sent to the Manager of Logistics. The length of time in which the equipment is to be loaned is at the discretion of Manager of Logistics.
