P-302 Burning of standing Structures

PURPOSE:

To establish policy regarding burning of standing buildings.

OBJECTIVE:

To ensure the safe burning of standing buildings.

SCOPE:

This policy applies to career and volunteer members of Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency.

POLICY:

It shall be the policy of Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency Service:

1. Not to burn standing buildings except for organized training exercises:

2. Training burns shall be conducted in accordance with NFPA 1403 and applicable provincial and federal legislation and regulations.

POLICY REVIEW:

This policy shall be reviewed when/if there are changes/amendments to the direction for burning of standing structures.
