PURPOSE:
To establish a policy to recognize Volunteer Firefighter Association milestones and to recognize volunteer firefighter years of service milestones.
OBJECTIVE:
To ensure volunteer fire fighters milestones and years of service are recognized.
SCOPE:
This policy applies to volunteer fire firefighters.
POLICY:
The Station Chief, or designate of the Fire Station will contact Public Information and Communications to advise of a station milestone anniversary at least one (1) year prior to the anniversary.
Station Milestone Anniversaries will be recognized as follows:
• 25 Years Ceremonial departmental lapel pin and $1500 towards department event.
• 50 Years Ceremonial departmental lapel pin and $3,000 towards department event.
• 75 Years Ceremonial departmental lapel pin and $4,500 towards a department event.
• 100+Years (in 25 year segments) Ceremonial departmental lapel pin financial assistance to be discussed with the Chief Director.
Personal milestones- Volunteer Firefighters will be recognized every 5 years with a Departmental pin and a Statue.
Public Information and Communication staff will be available to provide support and consultation to the Chief, or designate regarding methods of celebration. The Station Chief, or designate will be responsible for the invitations and RSVP’s to specific celebrations.
Public Information and Communication will be available to assist the Station Chief, or designate with making arrangements for the celebrations such as securing a venue, entertainment, etc.
A budget must be submitted for approval by the Deputy Chief Director for all costs associated with anniversary celebrations.
POLICY REVIEW:
This policy shall be reviewed when/if there are changes/amendments made to volunteer milestones and years of service.
