PURPOSE:
To establish a system for fire-safety inspections of land and premises situated within the jurisdiction of the Halifax Regional Municipality and to comply with the Fire Safety Act and regulations under the National Fire Code.
OBJECTIVE:
To ensure all land and premises situated within HRM comply with the Fire Safety Act and National Fire Code regulations.
SCOPE:
This operating guideline applies to career and volunteer members of Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency.
PROCEDURE:
The following table identifies the occupancy type and the planned inspection frequency of each occupancy type. Inspection frequency is based on a risk benefit matrix.
